Matthiola is from the Brassicaceae family is grown as an annual to cut flowers. It is sown in XII-II. When grown in the glasshouse for flower harvesting in XII, it is sown in early VIII, germinates for 7-21 days at 18-24 °C, then the temperature is reduced to 16-18 °C, after 5-6 weeks it is transplanted into 9-10 cm pots. Optimum temperatures for the young plants to grow to maturity are 13-18 °C during the day and 10-16 °C at night. Plant in a 15×20 cm bed, total cultivation time 20-22 weeks for harvesting stalks with 3-5 open flowers.
