Dark purple leaves with cut edges and a pointed end grow from a fluffy stem - in August it blooms with small flowers. Perilla has a sweet lemon taste suitable for modern and healthy cuisine or as a medicinal herb. It is added to salads as a spice, as well as to meat and fish, and the flower has the same use. The high content of essential fatty acids and other substances in various parts of the plant has beneficial effects on the human body, it has an antibacterial, antiseptic and antioxidant effect. The seeds are also edible, sweet and contain oil. Sowing at the beginning of V, lightly cover with soil, requires acidic soils with a pH of 5,0–6,5 and a slight but regular watering. We modify the appearance of the plant by cutting back, which we repeat after 2 weeks. It performs best in sunny and warm areas.
