Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus) comes from tropical SE Asia, so it is grown here as an annual. It produces large clumps of narrow leaves that grow up to 1 metre long. It is often grown in large pots with a well-drained substrate in a sunny position. The distinctive lemon aroma is used not only in Asian dishes, but also in fish, teas and syrups.
