Cuphea llavea - a member of the Lythraceae family, is a facultative short-day annual suitable for flower beds and larger containers. For the sale of flowering seedlings at the end of April-May, sow in February-early March, covering the seeds with vermiculite. Germination takes 3–5 days at 21–24 °C, after which the temperature should be maintained at 21–22 °C. Transplant into 10–14 cm pots after 3–4 weeks. The optimum temperature for cultivation is 26 °C during the day and 20 °C at night. It can also be grown at lower temperatures without the use of growth regulators, but this will prolong the cultivation period. Pinching is not recommended, cultivation period 11–13 weeks.
