Centaurea americana
(2)Centauerea americana - cornflower belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is a tall annual with delicate, thread-like petals that give it a fluffy appearance. It blooms from July to August and is suitable for larger plantings and cut flowers. It tolerates drier soils and thrives in sunny locations. Plants can be sown directly (March–April) or pre-grown as seedlings. Sow in March, lightly cover with vermiculite, germinates in 6–10 days at 16–20 °C; plant out when there is no risk of frost, cultivation time for non-flowering seedlings is 8–10 weeks.
