Begonia tuberhybrida - Tuberous begonias
(24)Begoniaceae, annual, pot flower, for sale in IV–VII, sowing 2/16 g per 1000 plants, XI–II, germination in light 10-14 days at 22-25 °C and 95 % of air humidity, the additional 24-hour assimilation light applied at this stage will shorten the growing time and increase seedlings quality, pricking out I–III, 16–18 °C, flower pot size 9-10 cm, cultivation period 20 weeks, for early efflorescence it is necessary to extend the day by lightning up to 14 hours until the end of March - only a small intensity, e.g. fluorescent lamps, energy saving bulbs, etc. (usually up to 20 W / m2)
A group of classic, popular and widely grown varieties. Plant height can reach 30–35 cm. They are robust with strong stalks. These richly flowering varieties have large camellia-form flowers, 95 % are full-flowered.
The ideal location is in partial shade. They can also be grown in sunny areas when watered sufficiently. They are characterised by their resistance and full flowering until the first frosts. Varieties are also suitable for bulb production.
